Make A Mini Tote Bag

You can download a pdf of this tutorial HERE

Print the graphic of your choice onto A4 inkjet printer fabric, following the instructions on your inkjet fabric pack,

For body of the bag -- Cut two pieces of fabric 8 ¼” wide by 14” deep

For handles ---cut two pieces 3 ½” wide by 14” long

_____________________________________________________

Take your handle fabric & Fold each side inwards then in half again & press with an iron

Sew each handle along the open side

_________________________________________________________

Lay  one piece of the  8 ¼” wide by 14” fabric on a table & lay your printed panel  on top face up & line the two pieces up at the bottom.

Now double fold over the top edge of the main piece of fabric so it overlaps the printed piece and pin as shown below this making the top border of the bag.

Do the same on the back bag piece of course with out the printed panel this time,

 Next the handles

Place the handle in position on the inside of bag as shown in diagram below,

Pin in place, repeat this on the both bag side pieces.

Now over you go to the sewing machine

take your two bag sides with the handles pined on,

Turn your bag side panel over so the good side is facing upwards, see picture below.

Now sew the first line of stitching, this will follow the lower edge of your top fold on the bag front. it will also sew through the handle

Now turn the bag side over as shown below

Now stitch along the top of the bag, securing the handle as you go. see below

It should look something like the picture below when you have finished

Assembling the Bag

take your two sides & place them on a table good side up,

Then put them together good side facing inward & pin as below

______________________________

Over you go to the sewing machine again LOL don't tread on any pins!

Stitch the two panels together around two sides & bottom,

I did this with an overlocker/Serger as it has a neater finish but the ordinary sewing machine will do fine, tidy any lose ends of thread,

Turn in the right way

You should have A nice Little tote bag

Hope you managed to follow my instructions,

This bag can be made and used with an iron on transfer just as easy, or even a stitched front.
